GC 61: William Walker & the Republic of Sonora

August 8, 2013 By The League of South Today on the Golden Circle podcast we explore a little-known event in Southern history that sheds more light on the Golden Circle historical perspective. We take a look at the efforts in the 1850s by a Tennessean and his supporters to create an independent, pro-Southern republic in northwestern Mexico, how he was praised in much of the US media at the time, the failure of his filibuster expedition and how he ultimately went on to conquer Nicaragua.
